Facebook symbols

Facebook symbols are Unicode-encoded special characters. I picked some cool and unusually-looking symbols for my collection. You can find here funny chinese signs, cross, peace symbol, cool skull, stars, and the list seems endless. People usually use them in facebook chat, status, to make text emoticons, nicknames or whatever. So use your imagination and have fun, lucky.

Symbols

How to use

Just copy-paste symbols that you like into your status, comments, messages, facebook names (but view Change Facebook name ت to add symbols, or fully hide FB names first). Though, strangely, it seems like some symbols can form "combos" (like in video games) =) and don't work if you put them one after another. So if you see some of your symbols turning into squares after you have put some new symbol into the input field - that might be a problem. To solve it just press "Ctrl" + "Z" and don't put these troublemaker symbols. Or put them in a first place.

Right-left

Notice that there are some right-to-left written symbols here, and if you put them - characters you put after them may appear before them. Tricky ones ^.^

Fonts

Funny thing about these symbols is that they are different in different fonts (like "Arial", "Helvetica", etc.). I noticed this when I've seen snowman and umbrella look different in Firefox and Chrome. They looked better in Firefox.

I'm an atheist really, and I think that's all the same crap, and I'm definately not promoting any of them. Christianity, belief in higher power of some race - all looks the same hit for me. And they never come together. That was why I've listed them in the same category.

Well, it depends.. =) But the easiest and, I believe, best way is to just copy-paste them. If you want to type them with your keyboard - then you better go kill yourself, cause it's just funereally hard. The only smart way of typing characters with keyboard that I know is Alt Codes. And there's only a "plenty" of symbols you can type in this way.

If you need to copy them into some HTML file - use Escape special HTML characters and Unicode entities. But, please, if you're putting them on the internet - link to the source (e.g. credit me).

With Alt codes? You can also type symbols with alt codes 128-255 (instead of 0128-0255) that weren't listed because they're language-dependent. But well.. Those are mostly letters of some languages.

There's also a thing called "Unicode symbol codes" when you type with "+" before the code (or something like that) and you're able to type all symbols from Unicode encoding, but it's hard and may require you to change some stuff in your registry (with "Regedit").

Oh, that might be because of the browser. I found Firefox and Opera displaying most symbols, Safari showing (only a bit) smaller number of symbols, Chrome even less and Internet Explorer just out-of-the-league. Explorer is a really bad browser in every way, so I guess if you're using it - you should better get some other one I've mentioned.

Remember, that you may not see all the symbols anyway, and that's okay. Though, if you won't see A LOT of them correctly - you'll have to get another system. The only way.
